One month in China!

One Month in China

So after one month of being in China I must say life here is pretty good, can't really complain. The people here are really friendly and helpful, especially considering I do not speak the language very well but I am slowly learning the language day by day, trying new foods, new drinks and meeting new people.

Night Market, Zhongyang Street, Harbin, China

Zhongyang Street Scorpion, Zhongyang Street
Night market at Zhongyang Street a.k.a. Central Street is very beautiful attraction I suggest anyone in the Harbin area to visit for good food, beer, treats and shopping. I also found a Wal-Mart Super center here which caught me off guard I had to do a double take. Also if your adventurous like myself try to eat a deep fried scorpion if your brave!

Songhua River City Monument, Harbin, China

Songhua River City Monument is a very beautiful and picturesque view especially at night when it is all lit up. They're hundreds of people who visit that spot each day and night either passing by, taking photos, heading the docks for boat ride to Sun Island or just simple tour of Songhua River and look upon the beauty of the city from another view, as not only is the docks and boat your own all lit up but the city it self is fully lights and thousands wandering the area either heading to a party, karaoke, restaurant or shopping.

Saint Sophia Cathedral                Sun Island

Another beautiful structure among many in Harbin is Saint Sophia Cathedral, a former Russian Orthodox church built in 1907. This is just one of many buildings/structures located through Harbin that show previous Russian influence in the city, also till this very day most modern day buildings in Harbin still have a Russian design to it and some buildings have a mixture of Asian and Russian influence to them. This gives the city a look of diversity, also there are a lot Western and European styled restaurants and stores throughout the city which can give some foreigners a taste of home whenever you catch home sickness.

Another must see attraction is Sun Island, for those outdoors and nature lovers this is the place for you. The island has deer, squirrels, bears, swans and other miscellaneous wild life there. This is a place for those wanting to escape the city and gain some quiet time all while soaking up the sun in park with friends. On Sun Island you will see a lot families, students, foreign students and if your a foreign person here many people will treat you like a celebrity almost and ask to take photos with you or talk with you to test their English, but this is something that can be experienced in most Harbin so if you plan to visit this city as a foreigner expect this kind of treatment.
